We aim to dispatch orders in weekly batches every Thursday, including all orders placed by midday Wednesday. While we do our best to stick to this schedule, delays may occasionally occur due to unforeseen circumstances.

All kits are sent via Express Post, so please allow 2–3 business days for delivery once dispatched.

If more than two weeks have passed since placing your order and your kit hasn’t arrived, please reach out to us and we’ll be happy to assist.

We recommend placing your order early to avoid missing out! When adding to cart, click "Notes/desired delivery date" and just leave a note with your preferred delivery date. We’ll reserve your order to send it out as close to that time as possible. While we can’t guarantee delivery on the exact day, we’ll do our very best to ensure it arrives on time. If it happens to arrive a little early, simply unpack the kit and repack it when you’re ready to gift it.

Usually speaking 4 days – 3 weeks however it can fall outside of this and is dependent on the environment you are keeping your kit in. Generally speaking, the warmer the environment, the quicker the hatching process! If your chrysalis hasn’t hatched after 3 weeks, please reach out.

This will vary depending on what stock is available. We will aim to send a monarch, however, don’t be surprised if you receive another one of our beautiful species!

- Carefully take out/lift the frame and remove the tissue paper.

- Carefully unbox the chrysalis from the mini box, unwrap it from the tissue paper and hang it to the frame using the safety clip provided.

Your chrysalis should be kept in a room temperature environment ~21 - 24 C and out of direct sunlight

Yep, this is a natural stage of the metamorphosis process!

Allow 24 hours for its wings to harden. Do not disturb it in these critical hours! It will hang there very calm and still - this is completely normal as it completes its final stage of development! After that take the kit outside and release your butterfly!

Once emerged the butterfly will not eat for 24 hours, so there is no need to feed it.

Butterflies are acclimatised to all Australian weather - rain or shine, so any weather is fine. If it does not want to fly just allow it to crawl onto a plant in the garden.

We send a variety of species, and which one you receive is contingent on what is available at the time. Worry not, all of our butterflies are as stunning as each other!

This is completely normal and often mistaken for blood. The red liquid is meconium, "pupal fluid" which isn't blood at all. It is made up of waste material that is produced during the pupal stage.

Yes! The hatching process is time-sensitive, and we carefully time the dispatch with the expectation that the kit will be opened as soon as it arrives.

If you’re not ready to open the kit yet or need it for a specific date, you can still place your order now. Just leave a note at checkout with your preferred opening date, and we’ll set your kit aside and dispatch it at the right time.
